Divine Word Missionaries in Zimbabwe

Budiriro Parish Project

serving the biggest parish in the capital

This is the biggest parish in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe.

Budiriro is a large township full of poor people, piles of litter, and false prophets. In 2011 we started to work there in the Holy Cross Parish, serving to more than four thousand souls. The main Sunday Mass has to be celebrated outside, since the church building is too small.

There was no parish house near the church, so our community has to stay in the city centre and spend hours by travelling every day.

Some years ago we started building a new parish house. People of the parish have been trying their best but the house is still far from completion. Besides our missionary community staying there, the house is used by missionaries travelling via Harare Airport, by the parishioners, and new missionaries assigned to our missions in southern Africa who study language in Harare.

Pray for the missionaries and their efforts. Your spiritual support is the most important one. The work of missionaries is being blessed and the hearts of people are opening for the Gospel, as you pray:

Father Almighty,
you sent your Son Jesus Christ
to the mission of redeeming the world.
Many still have not heard his message
of faith, hope, and love.
Bless the efforts of your missionaries
and let the light of your Gospel
shine in the world.
Bless the Budiriro Parish Project
so that through the missionary work
in the power of the Holy Spirit
it may bear fruit of salvation
to the people of Zimbabwe.
Amen.

Encourage Budiriro Parish Project with words of faith. Missionary work is difficult and missionaries may often feel discouraged. If you believe that their effort is valuable and you appreciate what they do, you should tell them. A few honest words may help a lot.
